Evidence outlook · lead readout

NCT04390295 · Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

The completed lead evidence has the design features that historically survive confirmatory trials: randomized, controlled, and adequately powered against a prespecified clinically accepted endpoint.

NCT04390295: This was a randomized, quadruple-blind, placebo-controlled trial (n=450) adding henagliflozin or placebo onto metformin. The primary endpoint, HbA1c change at 24 weeks, was clearly met: both doses reduced HbA1c significantly more than placebo (p<.0001 for each).
