Motixafortide vs Plerixafor

Same mechanism, same race: design-graded trial evidence for both assets, with the grading rationale shown. Grades describe the quality of the evidence, never the merits of either security.

Motixafortide

Marketed by Ayrmid Ltd. and partners

Approved in Multiple Myelomapeptide
Weak signal

NCT02639559 · Phase 2 · completed

The study was non-randomized, open-label, and had no comparator arm, with 50 participants overall and 24 evaluable donors for the primary endpoint. Although 22 of 24 donors met the mobilization target, this uncontrolled design cannot establish how motixafortide compares with another mobilization strategy; the primary endpoint was a CD34+ cell mobilization measure rather than a direct clinical outcome.

Plerixafor

Marketed by Sanofi

Approved in Multiple Myelomasmall molecule
Partial signal

NCT00103662 · Phase 3 · completed

This was a randomized, quadruple-blinded, placebo-controlled Phase 3 trial with a reasonably large sample (302 patients) and a clinically meaningful primary endpoint (achieving a target stem cell yield within a defined apheresis window). Results were not posted at the time of grading; the key result shown was recorded subsequently from the registry record.

Next expected readout: December 2027 · NCT07188090 (registry estimate)
