Ganaxolone
Marketed by Immedica Pharma AB
NCT01963208 · Phase 3 · completed
The primary phase was well controlled, with randomized quadruple blinding, placebo comparison, and 350 analyzed participants, and it used the clinical endpoint of change in seizure frequency. However, the primary endpoint was missed: the difference between ganaxolone and placebo was not statistically significant (p=0.1788), so the study provides well-designed but inconclusive evidence.
Midazolam (Nayzilam)
Marketed by UCB
NCT01390220 · Phase 3 · terminated
This was a randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 201 patients, and the primary outcome, control of a seizure cluster with no recurrence, was reached significantly more often with midazolam than with placebo (72 of 134 patients vs 23 of 67, p=0.011).
