Head-to-head evidence
fluticasone propionate/salmeterol vs indacaterol maleate / mometasone furoate
Same mechanism, same race: design-graded trial evidence for both assets, with the grading rationale shown. Grades describe the quality of the evidence, never the merits of either security.

fluticasone propionate/salmeterol
Developed by GlaxoSmithKline
NCT00920959 · Phase 3 · completed
The trial randomized 908 participants to combination therapy, fluticasone propionate, or placebo under double-blind conditions. Its primary endpoint was change in daily evening peak expiratory flow after 12 weeks, a pulmonary-function surrogate, and the registry does not report whether this endpoint was met.
indacaterol maleate / mometasone furoate
Developed by Novartis
NCT00557440 · Phase 2 · completed
The study was randomized and quadruple-blind, used both placebo and active control, and measured the clinically relevant lung-function endpoint FEV1. Although the primary comparison favored indacaterol/mometasone over placebo and was statistically significant, the small sample of 37 participants limits the strength of the evidence.
