DWP16001 vs Ertugliflozin
Same mechanism, same race: design-graded trial evidence for both assets, with the grading rationale shown. Grades describe the quality of the evidence, never the merits of either security.

DWP16001 · Enavogliflozin
Developed by Daewoong Pharmaceutical
NCT04634500 · Phase 3 · completed
This Phase 3 trial randomly assigned 200 people with type 2 diabetes to enavogliflozin or to dapagliflozin, with participants and investigators unaware of assignment. It was designed to show enavogliflozin was not worse than dapagliflozin at lowering HbA1c over 24 weeks, within a margin of 0.35 percentage points. It met that test: HbA1c fell by 0.80 percentage points on enavogliflozin against 0.75 on dapagliflozin, a difference of 0.04 points (95% CI -0.21 to 0.12).

NCT01986881 · Phase 3 · completed
This trial was randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled with over 8,000 participants, giving it strong statistical power, and its primary endpoint was a hard clinical composite (cardiovascular death, non-fatal MI, or non-fatal stroke) rather than a lab surrogate. The trial was designed as a cardiovascular-safety non-inferiority study, and the pre-specified margin was met, with the ertugliflozin-placebo hazard ratio's upper confidence bound (1.114) falling below the 1.3 non-inferiority threshold, demonstrating that ertugliflozin does not increase cardiovascular risk versus placebo in this population.
