Diazepam (Libervant)

Marketed by Aquestive Therapeutics, Inc.

Phase 3 in Epilepsysmall molecule
Weak signal

NCT03428360 · Phase 3 · completed

The study treated 130 participants with diazepam buccal film in a single open-label group, without randomization, blinding, or a control arm. Its primary outcomes were safety event counts rather than a controlled clinical comparison, so the findings cannot establish comparative treatment effectiveness.

Midazolam (Nayzilam)

Marketed by UCB

Approved in Epilepsysmall molecule
Reliable signal

NCT01390220 · Phase 3 · terminated

This was a randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 201 patients, and the primary outcome, control of a seizure cluster with no recurrence, was reached significantly more often with midazolam than with placebo (72 of 134 patients vs 23 of 67, p=0.011).
