The 792 participants were randomly assigned to carfilzomib plus lenalidomide and dexamethasone or to lenalidomide and dexamethasone, but treatment was open-label rather than blinded. The primary clinical endpoint, progression-free survival, was met, with a median of 26.3 versus 17.6 months and a statistically significant difference (p<0.0001).

Participants were randomly assigned and quadruple-blinded to ixazomib plus lenalidomide and dexamethasone or matching placebo plus lenalidomide and dexamethasone, with 360 and 362 participants, respectively. The hard clinical primary endpoint of independently assessed progression-free survival was met: median progression-free survival was 20.6 versus 14.7 months, with a statistically significant difference between groups (p=0.012).
