AstroStem

Developed by Nature Cell Co., Ltd. and partners

Phase 2 in Alzheimer's DiseaseCell therapy (autologous adipose MSC)
Weak signal

NCT03117738 · Phase 1/2 · completed

This trial was randomized and triple-blinded with a placebo control, which is a strong design foundation, but it enrolled only 21 participants (11 vs 10, with substantial dropout leaving just 7 per arm for the cognitive endpoint), making it severely underpowered. The primary cognitive endpoint (ADAS-Cog change) numerically favored placebo over AstroStem, and no p-value or confidence interval was reported for either primary outcome, so the primary comparison cannot be called a success for the drug.

Laromestrocel · Lomecel-B

Developed by Longeveron (NASDAQ: LGVN)

Phase 2 in Alzheimer's Diseasecell therapy (allogeneic MSC)
Partial signal

NCT05233774 · Phase 2 · completed

This trial was randomized, blinded, and placebo-controlled, but it enrolled only 50 patients and was designed primarily to test safety rather than a clinical outcome; cognitive measures were assessed only as secondary endpoints. The safety objective was met, but the small size and safety-focused design mean this trial does not by itself demonstrate a clinical benefit.
