Aripiprazole (Abilify)
Marketed by Otsuka Holdings and partners
NCT00712686 · Phase 3 · completed
The study was a large randomized, double-blind, active-controlled trial comparing aripiprazole with olanzapine, with 690 participants. However, the registry provides no results for either primary endpoint, so it is not possible to determine whether the primary comparisons were favorable or statistically significant.

Brexpiprazole (Rexulti)
Marketed by Otsuka Holdings and partners
NCT01393613 · Phase 3 · completed
This was a randomized, quadruple-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 674 patients with acute schizophrenia, using a validated symptom-severity scale (PANSS) as the primary measure. The pooled comparison of the two higher doses against placebo reached statistical significance (p=0.0093), and the 4 mg dose was significant on its own, but the 1 mg and 2 mg doses individually did not separate from placebo, so the result was only partially met.
Next expected readout: August 2027 · NCT07742280 (registry estimate)
