Effect size

How large the treatment effect actually was: the difference between arms, not just whether a difference existed.

An effect size is the magnitude: remission in forty percent of treated patients against twenty percent on placebo, a two-point drop in blood pressure, a hazard ratio for events. It is the number that decides whether a statistically significant result is clinically meaningful and commercially relevant.

On this site, each graded featured trial carries its key result where one is sourced, quoted with its endpoint so the magnitude can be read in context. Aligned effect sizes across competing drugs in the same race are part of the Research tier's competitive landscape.
