Head-to-head evidence

Milsaperidone (VHX-896) vs Quetiapine (Seroquel)

Same mechanism, same race: design-graded trial evidence for both assets, with the grading rationale shown. Grades describe the quality of the evidence, never the merits of either security.

Milsaperidone (VHX-896)

Marketed by Vanda Pharmaceuticals

Approved in Schizophreniasmall molecule
Weak signal

NCT06494397 · Phase 1 · completed

Every participant in this trial received both VHX-896 and iloperidone, just in a different order, so there is no separate group that shows what happens without VHX-896, and nobody was blinded to which drug was being given at each stage. The trial measured drug levels in the blood to compare the two products, not any change in psychiatric symptoms, and results have not been posted yet.

Quetiapine (Seroquel)

Marketed by Cheplapharm Arzneimittel GmbH and partners

Approved in Schizophreniasmall molecule
Partial signal

NCT00305422 · Phase 3 · completed

The study was randomized and double-blinded with an active risperidone comparator, but its small sample of 45 participants limits the strength of the evidence. The primary comparison was not reported, and the primary focus included cognitive and functional brain-activation measures rather than a clearly specified hard clinical endpoint.

Next expected readout: June 2028 · NCT05603104 (registry estimate)
