Head-to-head evidence

Miglitol vs Voglibose

Same mechanism, same race: design-graded trial evidence for both assets, with the grading rationale shown. Grades describe the quality of the evidence, never the merits of either security.

Miglitol · Glyset

Marketed by Sanwa Kagaku Kenkyusho

Approved in Type 2 Diabetessmall molecule
Partial signal

NCT00213070 · Phase 3 · completed

The study was randomized and double-blind, but the registry does not clearly identify a comparator arm, sample size, or primary endpoint. Because no results are posted, it is not possible to determine whether the primary glycemic endpoint was met.

Voglibose

Developed by Takeda Pharmaceutical Company

Phase 3 in Type 2 Diabetessmall molecule
Partial signal

NCT00837577 · Phase 3 · completed

The study randomized 133 participants to sitagliptin or placebo while continuing voglibose, with 70 participants in the sitagliptin arm and 63 in the placebo arm during the 12-week double-blind period. Although the primary HbA1c comparison significantly favored sitagliptin, HbA1c is a surrogate biochemical endpoint rather than a hard clinical or endoscopic outcome.
