Head-to-head evidence
Loxapine (Adasuve) vs Risperidone (QUAR)
Same mechanism, same race: design-graded trial evidence for both assets, with the grading rationale shown. Grades describe the quality of the evidence, never the merits of either security.

Loxapine (Adasuve)
Marketed by Lee's Pharmaceutical
NCT00628589 · Phase 3 · completed
The trial randomly assigned 344 participants to inhaled loxapine 5 mg, loxapine 10 mg, or placebo and used quadruple blinding of participants, care providers, investigators, and outcome assessors. Its primary clinical agitation measure was significantly improved with both loxapine doses compared with placebo (p=0.0004 and p<0.0001).
Risperidone (QUAR)
Developed by Laboratorios Farmacéuticos Rovi, S.A.
NCT06276361 · Phase 1 · completed
A sequential, open-label pharmacokinetic study of quarterly-injection risperidone in 58 participants, with pharmacokinetic parameters as the primary measures. The design is uncontrolled for treatment effect and no results have been posted to the registry, so this is weak evidence.
Next expected readout: December 2027 · NCT07047651 (registry estimate)
