Glycopyrrolate/formoterol fumarate vs Umeclidinium
Same mechanism, same race: design-graded trial evidence for both assets, with the grading rationale shown. Grades describe the quality of the evidence, never the merits of either security.

Glycopyrrolate/formoterol fumarate · Bevespi Aerosphere
Marketed by AstraZeneca
NCT03324607 · Phase 2/3 · completed
The study used a single treatment group without randomization, blinding, or a placebo or active comparator, and only 17 participants contributed to the primary imaging analysis. Its primary endpoints were surrogate MRI measures rather than established clinical outcomes, and the findings were mixed across those measures, so they provide limited evidence about Bevespi’s clinical effectiveness.
Umeclidinium · Incruse Ellipta
Marketed by GlaxoSmithKline
NCT02184611 · Phase 3 · completed
This was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 308 patients using lung function (trough FEV1) as its primary measure, and umeclidinium produced a significantly greater improvement than placebo (least-squares mean difference 0.154 L, 95% CI 0.113 to 0.194, p<0.001).
Next expected readout: December 2026 · NCT07133880 (registry estimate)
