The study randomly assigned 905 participants to quadruple-blinded monthly evolocumab or placebo, with both groups continuing background lipid-lowering therapy. The primary endpoint was met, with a statistically significant difference in LDL-C change at week 52, but LDL-C is a surrogate laboratory endpoint rather than a clinical outcome.

This was a randomized, quadruple-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 478 patients that measured LDL-cholesterol lowering, the standard efficacy measure for this drug class. Lerodalcibep reduced LDL-C by more than half compared with placebo, a highly statistically significant result.
