elecoglipron

Developed by AstraZeneca

Phase 3 in Type 2 Diabetessmall molecule
Reliable signal

NCT06579105 · Phase 2 · completed

Participants receiving AZD5004 or placebo were randomized and kept blinded to treatment; a semaglutide comparator arm was open-label but was not part of the primary comparison. The highest dose produced a substantially larger drop in HbA1c than placebo, meeting the trial's main goal.

PEX168

Developed by Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals and partners

Phase 3 in Type 2 Diabetespeptide
Reliable signal

NCT02477969 · Phase 3 · status unknown

This was a randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled trial with 587 participants, testing PEX168 against placebo, both added to metformin, using change in HbA1c as the primary measure. A published report of the trial's results describes the primary endpoint as met, with substantially more PEX168 patients than placebo patients reaching HbA1c targets at 24 weeks.
