The study was randomized, quadruple-blind, and actively controlled, with 234 participants assigned to CT-P47 and 237 to RoActemra. Its primary clinical endpoint, change in DAS28(ESR) at Week 24, met the prespecified equivalence criterion: the treatment difference was -0.10 with a 90% confidence interval of -0.30 to 0.10, within the predefined margin of -0.6 to 0.5.

This randomized, double-blind, active-comparator trial of 340 participants met its primary endpoint: about half of tocilizumab-treated patients achieved an ACR20 response at 24 weeks, compared with a quarter on methotrexate alone, a highly statistically significant difference for both the combination and monotherapy arms.
